Club Filipino closes the 27th SME Toolkit Road Show
The historic and Filipiniana-inspired architecture Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan, which hosted the inauguration of the former Philippine President Corazon C. Aquino, was also the host of the last leg of SME Road Show on November 21. Eighty-five entrepreneur guests from all over Metro Manila joined the last leg of its 12-business caravan spearheaded by SME.com.ph, Globe Telecom and IBM Philippines, which was set at Kalayaan Hall 3.
Robert Buhain, executive vice president of Planters Development Bank, the brainchild of SME.com.ph opened up the affair with his detailed backgrounder of the bank’s journey as a preferred deposit partner for SMEs. Over the years, he pointed out that the bank brought recognition to the SME sector as a backbone of the country’s economy.
“We are glad that with Plantersbank’s efforts, we have helped a number of SMEs that grew to large-scale companies,” Buhain beams with pride in the bank’s achievement.
“We go create opportunities for SMEs beyond banking,” he adds.
Since Plantersbank ventured into bringing cutting-edge technologies for SMEs, the road show is a way to introduce the bank’s affiliate’s offering.
Adonis Yap, president of SME.com.ph reveals the company’s latest business solutions, “Today, running a business is highly a jungle. Stevie Tambuting, vice chairman of SME.com.ph and assistant vice president of Plantersbank paints a fitting scenario of the newly elected US president, Barack Obama who used to be an underdog, but has risen to the top and made him the first Afro-American leader in the history of US politics. He likens the former black senator’s fame to SMEs using the technological advancement to boost their competitiveness in the business world and succeed in their respective industries.
The 27th SME Toolkit Road Show was made possible through the concerted efforts of Metro Manila area headed Joy Gochangco. The last leg of this business caravan hopes to empower even more the growing SMEs in the country to make it big not just in the local scene, but in the global arena as well.
