Acceptance of new technology is the key to success: The 130 participants of Cebu Road Show
"Danggit Bay! Mango Bay! Guitar Bay! Donut Bay!" as the popular commercial for the Ad Congress lingered in the many minds of Filipino television audience. How can any one forget about this commercial that was aired during the 90's? Everybody knew that these are the special delicacies of Cebu, the best food and souvenirs that this Queen City of the South offers.
The Cebuano entrepreneurs gathered together on Friday, September 28 in Cebu International Convention Center to witness the kick-off of the SME Toolkit Road Show and learn how Web-based business technologies can help boost-up their businesses' day-to-day operations.
In a press conference held an hour before the grand event, PDB SME Solutions president, Adonis Yap reveals, "It's already seven years now, that SME.com.ph continue to help the small and medium enterprises sector in promoting their businesses to the world via the Internet. This year, SME.COM.PH introduced the SME Toolkit to the portal, making a wide-range of articles, tips and resource materials on accounting and finance, business planning, human resource management and best practices freely available to SMEs via the Internet."
According to Planters Development Bank's executive vice president and director of PDB SME Solutions, Roberto A. Buhain, for those entrepreneurs who does not have an Internet connection, SME Toolkit can also be accessed through a CD version.
The SME Toolkit in CD format will be distributed in all road shows and it is like an eBook that business people can access anytime they need business information.
"You just have to view the CD via a computer and access the file right away without the need to go online," Buhain adds.
SME.COM.PH also rolled-out the Solutions Made Easy modules—Accounting SME and Timekeeping SME—the first installments of a software series designed for Philippine business environment and customized to enhance business productivity and efficiency.
Such technologies offered by SME.com.ph and Plantersbank will help Cebu entrepreneurs promote more their historical heritages, their palm fringed beaches, authentic souvenirs, delicacies and world-class products and services to the whole world, 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
Overwhelmed and bombarded with Cebu's warm response on its media coverage during the press conference, SME.com.ph team made a huge impact and attendance from Cebu entrepreneurs. The event was graced by Naga City's mayor, Hon. Valdemor Chiong and Visayas Governor of Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Robert Go.
The event proved to be more exciting as it raffled-off 30 minor prizes and 5 Nokia cellular phones. The grand prize, an EPSON Stylus Printer-Scanner-Copier-in-one went home with Mr. Felix Ng.
"We intend to provide stimulus to the SME Community and contribute to the country's economic growth. We are confident that our efforts will LEAD to better ways of doing things; INSPIRE new and exciting consumer experiences; and CONTRIBUTE to a greater sense of SME pride within a forward-looking and enabled community of Filipino SMEs," Yap synthesizes the closing of the event.
He assured all SMEs that, Plantersbank and SME.com.ph will continuously help promote their businesses not just in the local scene, but making the world as its center stage, and also help uplift the economy..
