Company Profile
Maunlad Canning Corporation
is a family-owned corporation
primarily engaged in the manufacture of
canned sardines.
The company started in 1965 under the name
of Earldon
Enterprises. This was later changed to Lapaz
Sales Center.
In 1983, the company bought the rights of
Youngstown
Sardines and proceeded to increase the volume
of production.
In 1988, Lapaz Sales Center became Maunlad
Canning
Corporation, producing Youngstown Sardines
for the C and D
market. Its first commercial plant was established
in Malabon.
In 1991, a second factory was opened under
a different
corporate name - Fishwealth Canning Corporation.
In 1998,
company owners Lioni and Lapaz Kaw started
manufacturing
corned beef - Youngstown Corned Beef - and
sold it in the market
at affordable prices. From canned foods,
the company
diversified to household products like detergents.
Eventually,
the company will house its operations in
a 10-storey
commercial/residential building in Manila.
