Optimism and Sustainability
The recent Social Weather Station (SWS) survey indicated more Filipinos are optimistic that their quality of life will continue to improve in the next 12 months. According to the survey published in BusinessWorld, 42 percent of Filipinos as compared to the seven percent said they would be better off in 2011.
However, things might change as Filipinos have to brace for increases in the fares of taxis, jeepneys and the light rail system. Moreover, Juan dela Cruz has to reckon with the increases in the prices of fuel and bread products.
It will be a challenge for the administration to impart to the people that the rise in prices is a necessary and at the same time a bitter pill to swallow as part of the economic process. Meanwhile, Filipinos be practical in their daily lives. For instance, they should be aware especially the young families in forming a manageable size to be able to give their children a brighter future.
